CILTSA 2008 Forklift Competition

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)

With a network of National Councils and Sections in over 30 countries, CILT services the interests of over 30 000 members.CILT is a professional body committed to the advancement of Logistics and Transport. CILT established a Section in South Africa, known as CILTSA, in December 2002.

Purpose

The purpose of CILTSA is to establish and maintain the professional standing of its members so that they are recognised for their superior ability and expertise to create world-class logistics and transport value within their organisations and South Africa.

Aims and Objectives

  • Establish CILTSA as a vibrant, new South African learned society
  • Promote the study of the science and the art of logistics and transport
  • Co-operate with the educational sector and with other professional institutes to raise training and educational standards, according to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and other relevant legislation
  • Develop and implement appropriate mentoring and skills transfer initiatives
  • Ensure demographic representivity in all activities and structures
  • Foster investigation and research into the development and improvement of logistics and transport
  • Hold regular meetings, conferences and events on logistics and transport
  • Optimise the use of information technology in logistics and transport
  • Provide professional inputs to the industry, government and the community
  • Promote safety and security in all modes of transport
  • To further transformation in the logistics and transport profession

Transformation

The environment within which CILTSA operates is significantly different to that of the former CITSA. We need to be sensitive to the realities of the new South Africa, and structure the society accordingly. CILTSA confirms that we support transformation in the logistics and transport industry and agree to assist with transferring skills to professionals from former disadvantaged communities through appropriate mentoring and career development initiatives.
